Summer School Mathematics

ALC in colloboration with Lori Haaland has put together ideas for implementing Everday Math games into your summer school curriculum. Every summer school teacher will have access to the Everyday Math Games Kits, which are to be used as the core of the student work time. To meet individual student mathematical needs, you may place students needing extra practice in small flexible working groups while other students are working together on a game.

Click on the appropriate grade level on the left for helpful ideas for using the Everday Math Games Kit. Each link contains following information: Learning Goals for Individual Grade Level, Secure Skills Checklist, Mathematical Literature Book List, and Mini-Lesson Ideas.

The secure skills checklists are to be used to keep track of each student’s achievement. Students at the Beginning or Developing level need to be put in supplementary flexible small groups to obtain more targeted practice.
